The Sacré-Coeur basilica is located at the top of the Montmartre hill. The architectural style of the building is inspired by Romanesque architecture, Byzantine architecture, and in particular by the Saint-Front cathedral in Périgueux, the Saint-Sophia basilicas in Constantinople and Saint-Marc in Venice. Its construction lasted from 1875 to 1914.
